Grandmaster Moon Sung Lee (9th Dan)

Grandmaster Moon Sung Lee began his formal training of TaeKwonDo when he was in high school back in South Korea. In 1958, he entered Korea University in Seoul and continued to practice the art where he participated in many domestic and international matches. For three years he was among the top five of Korea University's TaeKwonDo team.

During his military service, he taught Korea's field troops as a member of the elite Military Instructors Corps. After completing his military obligation, Grandmaster Lee devoted himself to teaching TaeKwonDo for his alma mater until he left in 1969 to emigrate to the United States.

In 1972, Grandmaster Lee founded Moon S. Lee TaeKwonDo Institute in Astoria, New York. Since then, he has been devoted to elevating the level of the community through the practice of martial arts. For over 30 years, the Institute has generated a number of national and international champions − however, the main goal has never been to make people tournament champions, but rather champions in their everyday lives.

The ultimate goal of teaching and practicing TaeKwonDo is to make one strong in mind, body and spirit. To develop strong character and a deep respect for one's fellow man.

Moon S. Lee TaeKwonDo Institute has been operating on this tenet for more than 30 years. It has evolved into developing separate Little Tiger, Junior and Adult classes − each class tailored to its students.

All our students are encouraged to be good students, citizens, parents, husbands, wives, and children.
